oak meadow

What a great day we had at Oak Meadow today.  Kekoa was super excited to ride the train, which he pointed out that we haven't done in a very long time.   I was surprised because he wanted to just ride the train with his mama, usually he wants to ride with baba.  So, my little man and I boarded the train, discussing possible birthday party themes.  First it was Buzz Lightyear, then he changed it to a pengu (what he calls all penguins) theme.  I told him he could still change his mind and he said, "I'm not going to mama".

After the train ride and a picnic we headed to the playground.  First stop is always the swings.  Our two kiddos L.O.V.E. the swings.  Kekoa's new favorite thing is "underdog", when I push him and run up underneath the swing.  He thought of the name all by himself, pretty creative I thought.  Scott was pushing Malia pretty high and she thought it was the funniest thing ever!

Are you guys almost done with the train ride?

bath in the sink

Malia needed a bath tonight, so we improvised and gave her one in the sink at my mom's house.  She was so cute and loved every second of it.  I just want to eat her up, she is so squishy and such a rolie polie.

happy year of the snake!

Happy Chinese New Year!  Tonight we went to my mom's house to celebrate new year's eve.  Kekoa and Jordan had a ball playing together, they play so well together.

Meilani and Scott had a game of Chinese checkers.  Our family is so highly competitive (especially my mom) that it isn't fun if we all play. :)

banana

It is so crazy how Malia has taken this feeding herself thing by the reigns.  She LOVES it, still will eat from a spoon too (for the moment) but just loves shoving food in her mouth.  This morning, I was putting her puree in her hands so she could shovel it in.

At dinner, I gave her pieces of steamed zucchini, which she devoured, and chicken, which she did not.  When she finished eating all her puree, I gave her a huge piece of banana so she could hold it. She thought this was fantastic and had so much fun getting it into her mouth.  She was squishing it in her hands and just having a ball, making the biggest mess possible.  I actually ordered her one of those bibs with the sleeves today.  I never understood why they made those kind of bibs, but now it is perfectly clear why.  Malia's sleeves are just covered with food.  (I know it is ridiculous how many posts I have had lately with Malia in her high chair, eating...but it is just fascinating to me how independent she already is.  It is a totally new experience.)

Kekoa was enjoying his banana too, with a smear of peanut butter.  He thought this tasted like a little piece of heaven and kept wanting more!  What a great after dinner dessert.

How is that banana and peanut butter?
