evenings alone

I remember when I was pregnant and already freaking out about the fact that I would be alone with two kids in the evening.  The thought completely terrified me...how would dinnertime work?  How would the bath work?  How would I get them both to sleep?  What if Malia wasn't a good sleeper?  The unknown was so scary.

And now I just have a different kind of night time routine.  Is it crazy?  Yes, at times it is.  Is it hard?  Yes, but most nights it is manageable...I just have to be really good with my time management.  I can't really meet friends at parks that are far from home anymore at 4:00, unless dinner is already cooked and ready to go.  Even then, it can get stressful to venture too far from home.  Good thing we have parks really close by.

The evenings are all about beating the clock...if I can get both kids in bed by 7:00, I am good.  Kekoa goes down really fast if he hasn't had a nap (knock on wood) and Malia will usually stay asleep for awhile before waking up to nurse again.  Both kids need to be in the bath by 6:00ish.  The best advice I got was putting both kids in the bath together (thank you Sara).  I would have never thought to put Malia's baby tub in with Kekoa...good thing he is OK with it too.  He actually gets upset if he can't take a bath with his sister.

Malia goes to sleep first, Kekoa is either eating dinner by himself or in the bath by himself, while I get her ready for bed...not ideal, but whatever works. Then it is his turn to have all the attention.  I'm pretty sure that he really loves this part of his day.  He has learned that if I can get Malia to sleep, he can have all my undivided attention.

Tonight, Kekoa was done eating and keeping Malia and I entertained.  He is so funny, wearing his fleece hat (his mask) during dinner.  I was trying to get her on video making this really funny face, she has been sucking her lips in the funniest way.

Get that sippy cup!

I love how Malia has her hands up the whole time.  It is so cute.

riding facing front

Malia loved this, facing front.  I took her and Kekoa for a little walk before Scott had to go to work.  She laughed the whole way.

7 month photo shoot

That's right people, I'm 7 months old.

Wait a second, where did my sign go?

So yummy.

Paul Moore Park

I felt like a million bucks today, I survived the day yesterday.  The sun was shining and I needed to get outside.  I didn't leave the house once yesterday and didn't even complain about it.  Kekoa was so excited to go to the park too, especially when I told him it was a new park.  He always likes going to new parks.  This park was so much fun, a lot of places to for his imagination to run wild.  We put out fires, rode horses, rebuilt our house after the wolf blew it down, and ran up and down on the ramps.

He can't wait to bring his Baba here to play too.

Happy New Year's

Wow, what a new year's eve we had.  Both Scott and I were SO sick, either a 24 hour flu bug or food poisoning.  It was just awful.  I really just wanted to crawl into a hole and lay there, not move or anything.  But alas, we have two young children, so that wasn't going to happen.  We both took turns, who would get to lay down.  It hurt to move or do anything.  Poor Kekoa, had to stay in the house all day, cooped up with us.  He was so worried too.  We just kept looking at the clock, counting down the hours to the kids bedtime when we would get a little relief.
I can't believe we survived, but we did.  Here is to good health in 2013!!
