perfect day

What a perfect day.
It has been hot all week and I've been itching to get to the beach. Another one of those things I've been wanting to do with Kekoa before the baby is born. I was a little hesitant to go alone, since I'm constantly having to use the loo, which means Kekoa has to come with me and then what do we do with all our stuff on the beach?
It worked out so great. Rose and her mama Caren met us at the beach. It was foggy when we first got to Santa Cruz, so we made a stop at this great playground downtown. Kekoa was super excited about this new playground and even more excited to play with Rose. They were so cute, running around all over the place.
The fog started to lift, so after about an hour at the park, we headed to Cowell's. It was the most perfect beach weather, not too hot, not too cold. There was a wonderful breeze and the kids had the best time. It was hilarious listening to the two of them talking with each other, they were having full on conversations.

We stayed at the beach for awhile, I didn't want to leave, but we needed to get back for music class. I didn't think Kekoa would want to go, but he kept telling me that he needed to go to music class. And once he found out his baba was going to meet us there, he was really intent on going. We said our good-byes to our friends and headed over the hill. Kekoa zonked out in the car (he hasn't been napping at home all week), so at least he got a little rest before music.
Scott woke him up and asked him if he wanted to go home or go to music class. Kekoa perked right up, out of his sleepy head state, and said "music class". He was so excited to show off for his baba, singing and dancing and having a great time. It was a super special treat to have Scott home this evening.

After music, I headed off to prenatal yoga class and Scott and Kekoa got to spend some time together alone. Kekoa was all ready for bed when I got home and fell asleep pretty quickly. I wish all days could be so wonderful!!

Auntie Cassie to the rescue

Oh my gosh. This could have turned out to be a disastrous day. Kekoa didn't want to nap. It was SO hot out, and I was dreading the long afternoon with a cranky toddler.
Auntie Cassie sent a text at the perfect time "Do you want to come swim?" YES!!
I thought maybe Kekoa would fall asleep on the way over, since he could barely keep his eyes open, but he was too excited to get into the pool. The water was icy cold, shocking actually, but then felt really nice. Kekoa was super happy I was getting in the water with him. Ava was being such a cutie pie too, very protective of Kekoa and letting me know that she was watching out for him.
Thank you guys so much for the dip!

lunch outside

Since it has stopped raining and warmed up, we have been enjoying lunch out in the backyard. It is really nice to sit out there.
Kekoa requests his sandwich (either peanut butter and jelly or ham with hummus) and then asks if he can sit outside to eat. :)

So hot

It was already hot this morning at 9:00 am...not a good sign.
After my doctor visit, we headed to Jack Fisher Park. Kekoa was excited to get in the water and cool off a bit. He had the best time filling his bucket up and showing me the water inside. "Look mama, look at the water"
I hope we survive the rest of the week, it is supposed to be hot every day.

sweet moments

Today was full of extra sweet moments with my little boy that I wish I could bottle up for a rainy day.
This morning when we were getting ready to head out for a train ride, Kekoa discovered my hospital bag. Inside are massage tools. Kekoa was so excited to find them and wanted to give his mama a back massage. OK! How can I refuse that? He insisted that I sit on his bed as he rubbed my back. It was very sweet.
After the massage, he wanted to snuggle a bit on his bed. He said, "lay down next to me mama, maybe for 2 minutes". Of course!

After dinner, Kekoa crawled into what is left of my lap, all nunie and wanted to snuggle. He was being so sweet, giving smooches and just being such a cuddle bug. We were sitting outside, enjoying our backyard and I was loving it.

While I was putting Kekoa to sleep tonight, he just kept saying "mama, I love you so much". Oh, talk about my heart melting. I love Kekoa so much.
