cool shades

Kekoa has recently been obsessed with his sunglasses. We got them for free at a surf contest, so they are actually made for adults. He does a pretty good job holding them up to his eyes. I guess the kitchen lighting was a little too bright for him tonight! :)

boys are back

It has been a long 3 weeks without playing with Milan or Kasper. Kekoa woke up from his nap and was super excited to see his buddies again. It is impossible to get a good picture of the 3 of them together.

All Kekoa wanted to play with was Milan's stuffed animals. He was SO excited that Milan had so many to choose from.

Here's how it works, Kekoa.
No more sharing the keyboard! :)

da ya ya

Kekoa and I brought in the New Year with a trip to "da ya ya" (big duck, aka Children's Discovery Museum).
We haven't been here in a long time. The weather has been so sunny and nice that we have been doing things outside, but today I promised Kekoa we would go. He was very happy to be spending some time with mama, while we gave baba a little time for himself.
He brought Rex, the dog, and was super excited about playing on the fire truck and the ambulance. We had a quick, but very fun visit.

Can you see the excitement on Kekoa's face?

Kekoa just loves this room, loves walking around and around. I can't even watch the lights go around and around, it makes me have motion sickness.

He was having so much fun pushing all the buttons on the cash register...wasn't so interested in making pizzas in the kitchen though.

You can see the look of concern on Kekoa's face. There is a little boy trying to climb up and Kekoa is worries about hitting his head with the steering wheel.

I love this series of pictures.

one last snowman snuggle

Today we took down the decorations. Kekoa is pretty bummed that the Christmas season is over. The lights we have been looking at nightly are all being put away....the penguins have left and so has the "Santa elf". As Scott took down some of the decorations today, Kekoa said "oh no mama, baba putting it away".
I put my "snowman city" away while Kekoa was napping today. He found the baby snowman that he loves so much while I was cooking dinner. I heard him playing and pretend crying, saying something about wanting mama. I told him to come in the kitchen to give mama a hug. Kekoa came wandering in with the baby snowman he had dug out from the box. It was baby snowman that had been "crying", looking for his mama. Kekoa couldn't find what he calls "mama snowman" in the box filled with all the other decorations and snowman. After mama and baby snowman were reunited, Kekoa couldn't stop hugging and kissing them. It was adorable, like he just had to get his one last snowman snuggle before Christmas is stored away until next year.
Kekoa is not the only one that will miss the lights and decorations.

Happy New Year!

Wow, a 71 degree beach day on New Year's Day! Scott and I joke that this why we pay "the big bucks" to live here in California...for days like this. Kekoa and I headed to the beach after his nap. I have never seen Santa Cruz so jumping with people, not even in summer (when it is super foggy). People were walking around in tank tops, shorts, bathing suits, I had to keep reminding myself that it is January.
My little monkey and I had a great time digging in the sand.
It would have been perfect if baba could have come too...maybe tomorrow we can come back when he has the day off.
