We drove to Fremont, dropped Kekoa off at my dad's, hopped on BART, and headed to San Francisco.
Our destination was the Ferry Building for some lunch. 2 words; avocado toast. Oh my gosh, the best thing I have tasted in a long time. Quite possibly the world's most perfect food. Acme bread's green onion slab is brushed with olive oil, garlic and parm cheese, then toasted, and the thick slices of avocado are artistically laid on top and sprinkled with salt and pepper...SOOOOOO yummy. This was an appetizer for us.
It had started to rain, so we ducked into the other end of the Ferry Building at Gott's Roadside, for some malts (me chocolate, Scott vanilla bean), sweet potato fries, salad, and an ahi burger. I was so happy to eat my way through San Francisco! :)
After these yummy treats, we wandered up to Chinatown in search of a cheap umbrella. The rain caught us by surprise and Chinatown is always super fun to go exploring. We not only found a cheap umbrella, but had lots of giggles trying on silly hats and wigs.
We had planned on staying in the city for a lot longer, but the rain made it not so enticing to stay. We headed back on BART and spent the rest of the afternoon hanging with the family.
A wonderful birthday...a little alone time with my hubby and a little family time too! :)
The fabulous Ferry Building.
