froggy

Kekoa refers to himself as froggy so what better bath towel than a frog. He usually takes the towel off in the bathroom and wants to walk around nudie, but tonight he loved having it on. He had been wearing it in bed and took it off when I ran to grab the camera. When I asked him if I could take some pictures of him as froggy, he said "yeah" and put the towel back on. I think he is the cutest frog on the block! :)

fremont visit

After Kekoa's rest (he had no nap today) we headed to Fremont for a visit. I was crossing my fingers that Kekoa might fall asleep in the car, but no such luck...he was wide awake and so excited.
We pulled up and my dad was up a tree, in the front yard, cutting it down. Kekoa said "Pop Pop on ladder" when he saw him and boy was Kekoa excited to see his Pop Pop! Kaiwei was still sleeping so we played out front. Kekoa dug in the dirt while I got to snuggle with Mackie and chat with my dad. It was nice.

Kaiwei awoke from his nap, so excited to see all of us. But one of his first questions was "Where's Scott?" (in Chinese of course) When I told him that Scott was at work, Kaiwei asked me why Scott has to be at work? It was very sweet. Kaiwei likes to ask "why" all the time now.
"Why won't Kekoa play leggos? I want to play leggos with him"
"Why won't Kekoa play doctor? I want to play doctor with him" (Kekoa was more interested in the trains and cars!)
"Why do you have to leave?"
"Why does your car make that sound?"

Kaiwei and Kekoa love each other so much. Kaiwei couldn't keep his hands off Kekoa and kept giving him lots of hugs and kisses. It is really sweet to watch these two growing up together.

So many toys!!

Kekoa has to copy whatever Kaiwei is doing. Here they are, messing up the exersaucer.

My favorite part of the afternoon was watching these guys play bumper cars...they were hilarious!

We also had a real treat this afternoon...a special visitor...Oriana! We haven't seen her in awhile. Kekoa was very excited she was coming over to play.

I figured Kekoa would be a complete disaster for the car ride home...complete meltdown city, but it wasn't bad at all. The meltdown didn't happen until we got home and I was putting his pj's on..."no mama, play tacks first" he screams and cries. Oy, what a day!

I hope tomorrow is a napping day!

no naps

Twice this week, Kekoa has decided that he didn't want to take a nap, Wednesday and today (Oh NO!) I have been preparing myself for this, I have always figured that Kekoa would phase himself out of a nap, sooner than later. He went to one nap at 11 months old. Everyone said, "Oh no, he'll go back to 2 naps, he is too young to only have 1 nap"...he never went back to 2 naps.

Today I watched him on the video monitor, keeping my fingers crossed that he would pass out. He was trying so hard to put himself to sleep, eyes were close, he was tossing and turning. Then he climbed off the bed and I heard him opening the door to his room. I went back and told him we were going to visit Pop pop and Kaiwei and Mackie and Auntie so he needed to get some more rest. He said "Yup", and climbed back onto his bed.
Now it was pure entertainment to watch him on the monitor. He was having so much fun in his room, playing with his stuffed animals and trains. He would toss the trains off the bed, then climb off the bed after the trains, pick up the trains, and crawl back up to bed (that darn stool maybe wasn't such a good gift ;) At one point, Kekoa also got off the bed to shut his door tight. I don't think he wanted me to know what he was up to!
I was giggling just watching him. His stuffed animals were having so much fun jumping off his bed too. After about 15 minutes or so, I went back in Kekoa's room. I asked him if he had been resting, Kekoa said "mmm hmmm", so you were lying down the whole time Kekoa? , "mmm hmmm". I asked him if he was really playing with his trains, he said "mmmm hmmm". Then he said "monkey" and showed me where Guido was on his bed. He said "Guido sleeping, blanket" (he had put a little blanket over him, so cute)
Well, at least Guido got his nap!!

I really hope Kekoa doesn't kick the nap habit already...it makes for VERY long days and a cranky monkey in the evenings!

Belgatos Park with baba

Scott had the day off today so we headed to Belgatos Park to show him how much fun it is. The past few days, Kekoa has been wanting to bring his stuffed animals in the car. Sure...anything to make getting out of the house easier! Today he had Guido the gorilla with him (a present from Uncle Dom's) and Guido had just as much fun as Kekoa on the playground.
We also went on a short hike from the park. There is a short trail that goes straight up to an amazing view. The trail is the perfect distance for hiking with Kekoa! We had a snack at the top of the ridge and then Kekoa was ready for more action on the slide. Hiking time and park time...a super fun way to spend our morning together.

Ready or not...here comes Guido!

Man, this slide is the BEST!

Guido waiting patiently for another turn.

The view from the top...wow!

Hanging on tight to Guido!

back to the park baba!

Kekoa has really been trying to skip. He saw a little girl skipping yesterday and has been trying ever since. Here is Scott showing Kekoa some of his skipping moves! Go baba!

little man with his backpack

Kekoa looked sooooo cute coming down the stairs. He had on his little Thomas shirt and his Thomas backpack. His backpack was filled with trains, but not too many, or he doesn't want to carry it. Kekoa looked so grown up, like such a big boy with his backpack on!
