A Day Out with Thomas

This morning we headed to Roaring Camp Railroad amongst the redwood trees and fog. It was a special day, Thomas the train would be there. Before having Kekoa, I had no idea what a huge deal Thomas the train is...he is HUGE. There were so many kids there, all decked out in their Thomas outfits, ready and excited to see Thomas and to ride on the Thomas train.
The train ride was actually so awesome. We were surrounded by these huge redwood trees as the train followed the San Lorenzo River.
Kekoa was so excited about his "Day Out with Thomas". Scott had the hardest time getting him down for his nap because he couldn't stop talking about it! Our little man is NUTS about trains!

Welcome to Roaring Camp

Kekoa is so excited he gets a new train, Hiro.

Can't stop staring Hiro.

Kekoa was excited to see a "driver".

Ready for our ride.

When is this train leaving?

Kekoa with his Thomas swag!

OH my gosh...what is that!?

A "big choo choo steamy"

Kekoa gets a tattoo...

Ta da...my Thomas tattoo!
Kekoa kept trying to scootch himself up in the line to get to Sir Topham Hat. He was just so anxious!

Finally, Kekoa gets to meet Sir Topham Hat!

One of my favorite parts of the morning was watching Kekoa in the jumpy house. It was his first time in one. He usually doesn't want to go inside the jump houses. He couldn't stop smiling today though.

Kekoa can't take his eyes of the train, even during our picnic lunch!

Kekoaisms

July 29th (I forgot to post this one!)

Kekoa is such a little chatterbox. He is nonstop talking, from the time he wakes up to the time he goes to sleep. I can't keep up with all the things he says, but here is a sample...

When he was done eating dinner tonight, Kekoa started chanting "dan party, dan party" (dance party). I said, "How about we have a dance party after a shower?" He said, "No mama, dan party first!"

"no dat" (I don't want that)

choo choo steamy (with an emphasis on the "t" sound so it sounds like "teamy")

choo choo back

pease (please)

"Mama (or baba) read dis"

"pay choo choo track mama" or "mama pay choo choo track" (mama play trains with me, hard to hear that "r" sound so it is more like "tack")

froggy stuck or froggy sleepy or froggy all done (he likes to call himself froggy)

mama or baba a-a-a (sing to me please)

no mama (this is new, adding the mama to the word "no")

Koa nunie, no pampa sleepy (Kekoa wants to sleep in the nude, no pamper!!...as he screams this on the top of his lungs)

mama bao boa (mama hold me)

snuggly (time for some snuggles) or snuggle mama bed ( I want to snuggle with mama on the bed)

"mama funny" or "baba funny"

"pease cat in da hat Freddy nigh" (Can we please read Cat in the Hat, with Freddy, before I go to sleep?)

"fate tain" (Can we please read Freight Train?)

"pee pee potty" (I need to got pee pee on the potty.)

"I hear it" (if there is any sort of noise...a train, airplane, music...)

"num nums" (good things to eat) or Kekoa will ask for "nack" (snack)

baba (or mama) san ban (baba is at work)

"mama, baba, get the phone" (My phone was ringing, Kekoa heard it and told me to answer because it was his baba!)

Kekoa hearts trains

July 20

Forget fire trucks, bulldozers, police cars, tractors...Kekoa is obsessed with trains. The first thing he wants to do when he wakes up is "play choo choo track". The first toys he looks for when he wakes up are his "choo choo steamy" (the black steam engine) and "choo choo back" (the red steam engine). He brings them into his bed during nap time and sometimes at night too. He had read his "choo choo Thomas" book that Delilah gave him so many times that he knows it by heart now. The book "Freight Train", by Donald Crews is a must read before bed. This one is checked out from the library so we may have to purchase it. He can spot "choo choo Thomas" paraphernalia from miles away and then can't stop talking about what he saw Thomas on, a bucket or shovel or backpack...whatever the item was.
He plays trains while I get dinner together. I get to listen to all the cuteness. When he says "all aboard", it is the most adorable thing ever. I never get tired of hearing it. I also so love his sound effects of the train running along the tracks.
Kekoa eats, sleeps, plays trains. Trains, trains, trains!

Kekoa loves going to Oak Meadow park to ride the train and to just watch the train. To guide the train in, gesture with their hands when it is safe for the train to go backwards. Kekoa now copies them, "backing it up" as he calls it. It is SO cute.

cutie bootie

oh the cuteness of out little monkey's "nunie" bootie. Does it get any cuter than this?

summer of trains

This summer has been the summer of trains.
We are so lucky to live so close to the train. We are able to ride it at least a couple times a week. Today Kekoa wanted to take some pictures with the "choo choo back". Tomorrow we are headed to see Thomas the Train...Kekoa is SUPER excited!
