Happy 4th of July from Bend!

Wow, what a patriotic town we are in. 4th of July here was so much fun! Scott and Paul went up to Mt. Bachelor for a little 4th of July skiing and snowboarding...yes, you read that right, skiing and snowboarding in July!

JoAnna and I took the kids to downtown for the pet parade. JoAnna actually dropped us off first so she could go find parking. The two little ones were so good, followed directions so well...they made it a breeze to have them both by myself.
There were so many cute dogs, all dressed in their 4th of July best. We also saw cows, llamas, and goats. the kids were so excited to pet the cows and goats.
The craziest thing was this chihuahua that was attached to a huge bunch of balloons and suspended up in the air about 6 feet! The kids couldn't believe what they were seeing and neither could I.
The babas met us downtown and we walked over to the park for some more festivities. This is such a great town, a really wonderful place for kids...there is a real community feel here. It is like Los Gatos, a little bigger and actually affordable.
While everyone else went to go get some lunch, Kekoa and I waited under the shade of the huge trees, watching the potato sack races. Kekoa was completely entranced by watching the kids jumping and falling. He thought it was the neatest thing.

Watching JoAnna drive away.

The two little 4th of July twins...they are the cutest!

Petting the 4th of July cow.

A festive goat. The owner said she dyed the fur with food coloring!

My favorite dog, a Corgi...all ready for the parade.

If you look really close, you will see a little white blob up in the air, being held up by the balloons...it is the chihuahua, flying through the air!

snack time.

Where are those ducks?

Watcha eatin' Delilah?

Kettle corn!

Kekoa loves to "running" (not quite yet, but he does speed walk quite quickly).
He says, "Ke Ke running", it is so cute.

This afternoon, we had a BBQ at Paul and JoAnna's. The weather was perfect, not too hot. The kids had a blast, playing in the water and we all had a blast, eating yummy food and drinking yummy beer!
It gets dark late here, around 9:30, so the fireworks show wasn't until 10:00. Both kids were passed out by that time, so I stayed home with them and Scott, Paul, and JoAnna went to check out the show. I was actually so tired, I was happy to stay home!
We hope you had a great 4th of July too! :)

I love this picture. Kekoa is looking back at the trampoline, seeing what Delilah is up to.

Sunday in Bend

We had a lovely Sunday here in Bend. This morning we took the kids to the park to play. They were so cute sitting in the wagon together. Delilah kept giving Kekoa his sippy cup, making sure he was drinking his water. Kekoa had a great time at the playground making "soup" and splashing Delilah. She wasn't so thrilled to be splashed with the water!

Here Kekoa, drink some water.

Thanks Delilah...my water is so yummy.

This was the coolest bubble maker ever. It made so many huge bubbles that the kids went crazy for.

In the afternoon, we went to a free music concert by the Old Mill, right on the Deschutes River. It was a gorgeous place to have a concert as we watched people tubing down the river while listening and dancing to the music.
Kekoa loved the dancing!

snack please mama.

Scott was such a sweetheart, holding up the umbrella so we would have some much needed shade!

Off and running...

Kekoa had so much fun climbing up these rocks and then rocking out on the grass. Of course he stopped dancing when I turned on video!

Two little flirts.

We came home to a delicious pasta dinner. Paul is the best cook and his homemade spaghetti sauce is so yummy.
My favorite part of being here is watching our kids playing and loving on each other. They can't get enough hugs and can't be out of each other sight. It melts my heart. JoAnna and I have known each other for so long, almost 20 years. It is amazing that our kids are close in age and love to play with each other so much.

This salad is so good, olives, oranges, celery, olive oil and salt and pepper...one of Paul's famous salads.

The cook!

The kids ate their dinner before us. They kept themselves entertained by coloring at the kids table.
