Duck race

This morning we headed over to Vasona Park for the annual Silicon Valley Duck Race (there is a really cute video clip). I think Scott was the most excited about the duck race. He woke up bright and early to tell me all about it.
Kekoa was in "da ya ya" (big duck) heaven. The huge inflated duck, that was on the roof of the Children's Discovery Museum, was on the lawn at the park. Kekoa was able to get right up close and take a picture with it.
We all stood at the waters edge, so excited to see the rubber duckies floating downstream. What a great way to spend our morning together as a family.

There were all kinds of different booths, giving things away. Kekoa was so excited to get a little taxi and this "be ball".

Kekoa had so much fun in this little house. He was a little apprehensive about going into it, but then once inside, we had a hard time getting him out!

Who is going to win the race baba?

Hmmmm, what is up in my nose?
Some real ducks waiting patiently too. They actually attacked some of the rubber duckies!

Here come the duckies...

I LOVE talking on the phone

Kekoa was super excited to talk to his baba this evening on the phone. He was chatting non-stop, running all over the apartment, telling him all about his afternoon. It was hilarious. He actually wouldn't give me my phone back!

I found a cat!

Look what Kekoa found in Trader Joe's today...the black cat. At our local Trader Joe's there is a "wanted" poster with a picture of this black cat. If it is found, there is a special prize. I have seen kids running around inside TJ's, frantically searching for the cat. I actually didn't think it really existed. I was going to pick up a cantaloup and I heard Kekoa say "mao mi" (cat). I looked over and there it was, laying down with the bags of grapefruit. We were both so excited. He got to hold it while I finished shopping. He kept saying, "I found a cat", over and over again. He actually said "cat", instead of "mao mi", it's like he knew that the people in TJ's didn't speak Chinese. I was SUPER impressed he was saying "I" instead of "ke ke found a cat", it is one of the first times he has done this...referring to himself as "I".
The employees in TJ would walk by and see Kekoa with the cat and make a huge deal about it. He was so proud of himself.
I was afraid he wouldn't want to give the cat back, but he actually handed it to the manager and then picked out his prize from the treasure chest. He chose a little black gorilla.
I'm sure Kekoa will now look for the black cat whenever we go to TJ's! What a fun way to make grocery shopping that much more exciting! :)

Yew

One of Kekoa's most frequently said words right now is "yew". If he gets any food on his hands, we hear "yew". He is constantly looking at the bottom of his feet, if there is anything on them, lint or dust, he says "yew". My hair ends up all over the place, sometimes in his fingers when he is playing, he will say "yew, mama toe fa" ( mama's hair). Where did he learn this from you may ask? From me, I say "yew" all the time! I never realized how much until my little monkey started saying it too.

What do you want me to say mama?

"yew"

twins?

Kekoa and Kaiwei look so more alike now, with their big boy haircuts. We went over to play this morning. Kekoa was SO excited to go, stood by the door and kept saying "Ka ka" over and over. I asked him in the car, "Where are we going?" He would shout, "Ka Ka, pop pop, ayi (auntie), and baby" (He will say their names super fast, all together, like they are all one person)
The boys play so well together. Kekoa was exhausted when we got home and slept until 4:00! Whoa!

Kaiwei thought it was so funny that he made this face.

Time for a hug...

We went out for noodles before heading home. Little Mackie (Jiawei) was in good spirits after his long nap.
