Bye Christmas tree

January 2

Today Christmas was put away in its boxes and the tree came down too. Scott put all the decorations away and cut the branches off the tree (to compost at my dad's) while Kekoa was eating, this way he could see the tree "go away" and not freak out tomorrow morning when it had disappeared. He is pretty bummed the tree is gone but excited to have his living room back to play in.
But the most exciting thing was when Kekoa started saying good-bye to the tree and strung together two words..his first time EVER!! He kept saying "bye-bye su" (bye bye tree). We are so proud of our little
monkey! :)

The first thing I would do whenever we came inside was turn on the switch for the Christmas tree lights. Now whenever we come in, Kekoa waves and says bye-bye su and looks in the corner where it used to be.

A cozy head

Winter is here but we are still outside most days. How do we keep our little monkey's head nice and toasty? We have a choice of head wear to choose from. You can really never have too many toddler hats, they seem to disappear! :)

A navy knit hat...

Check out the beautiful eyes on my hubby and baby!

Super warm fleece hat with cute little ears...

The little beanie that makes Kekoa look like he's ready to work on his tugboat...

Penguin hat from one angle...
second angle...
and from the front...
Super warm little rascal hat. Scott thinks it just looks like the kind of hat a little boy would wear that is about to get into mischief...like Dennis the Menace!

Finally, a super stylish and super toasty handmade knit hat from my friend Emily.

Which one is your favorite?

Here comes the sun...

Aaaaah, sunshine, how much I have missed you! Today was gorgeous, crystal clear skies. I've really been craving sunshine, it has been hard to be stuck inside for so many days in a row. I'm not sure if it is the sunshine or what, but my spirits have been lifted...thank goodness. It isn't any fun feeling blue. Not only was there beautiful weather today, but Kekoa had a pretty amazing day too.

There are a few things that happened with Kekoa today that I don't want to forget...
-When he woke up from his nap, he was being so sweet. I guess I should say even sweeter than normal, if that is at all possible. We were reading a book, he was sitting next to me and I was reclined on the pillow. It is a kissing book, and we got to the page where the little girl is getting kisses from her dog. Kekoa was very excited to see the dog and when I told him the dog was giving her kisses, he leaned over and gave me a kiss. The cutest part was he kept doing it over and over, leaning in and giving me a smooch. I melted of course. I hope my little monkey stays this sweet. He just loves to give hugs and kisses, but the best is when he gives them out of the blue.

-At the park today, Kekoa started climbing on the play equipment all by himself! (This is a first) We don't make it to the playground on a normal park day, we get so lost in exploring all the other parts of the park. Today, Kekoa climbed up the steps of the play equipment on his own, waited for me at the top of the slide. I would then run down the steps, meet him at the bottom of the slide, and he would slide down. Boy, was he SO proud of himself for accomplishing this all on his own, he was even looking around with a huge smile on his face to see if anyone else had noticed what he had done. (so bummed I didn't have my camera!)

-Not only was Kekoa climbing on the play equipment, but he was also climbing onto the toy train at the park and then sitting on the little benches inside. It is the first time he has done this, climbed into the train on his own and onto the benches on his own. His little legs are so cute as he swings one up and then the other. It is amazing to see these changes in Kekoa. I am so proud of him.

-At dinner time I always ask Kekoa what his favorite part of the day was. Well, now he actually answers me. Tells me what he saw and what he did. It is the cutest. If he saw water, he'll say "wa wa". Today at dinner he said "wa wa" and did his little sign for duck to tell me he saw ducks on the lake! Last night at dinner, he made his sound for dog because he got to pet 3 dogs. We also heard a peacock yesterday on our hike. Kekoa thought it was the tree making this horrific yelping sound, so he started making the sound and then saying "su" (tree in Chinese). He has been doing it all day today too. So cute.

The day after

December 26

The morning after Christmas, Kekoa and I went for a walk to Oak Meadow. He was very excited to run across the bright green field with his ball. He was also very concerned about the stroller. If I left it and walked away from it, he would circle back and make sure it was coming too!

Come on stroller...andiamo (let's go)

Kekoa was lifting up the entire front end of the stroller! I thought he was going to tip it over!

We stared at the rushing creek below for a long time.

Where is that darn train?

Cutest little boy

December 23

I am so far behind in blogging, but will hopefully catch up. Scott and I took Kekoa to Oak Meadow on this morning. Well, we take him there most mornings. There is a lot of room there for him to roam and explore. I met up with them, after my run, to find the cutest little boy, in the cutest little hat! He wanted to get down to the creek so badly!

I love this little kneel...
Gotta get to that creek!

Throwing leaves with mama!
