BBQ time

We had a lovely afternoon on Tuesday, BBQing at our friends' house. We met Jen and Jon at a prenatal couples yoga class!! Now our boys are so big, it is unbelievable! Ty is 3 months older than Kekoa and walking everywhere! We had a delicious meal and then dipped in the pool for a swim. Kekoa absolutely loved the warm pool, he was so happy to be in the water. It was so much fun! Thank you guys! :)

Out at the BBQ...

A little play time before we eat!
Jumping in for daddy!

Kekoa couldn't stop staring at the shade umbrella. This is so Kekoa, he is very observant and stares at anything new!
Still staring...
Hmmm, I wonder what the edge of the pool will taste like?

It doesn't taste too good!

Jumping in for mama...if she can get my attention!

Only daddy can get Kekoa to laugh like this...

First time riding a train and carousel!

We live so close to this amazing little train, the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad and carousel, about a 10 minute walk away. This morning, after Kekoa's first nap and before Scott had to go to work, we ventured out to take Kekoa on the train. We've lived here for 4 years, I've been wanting to ride this train since then...now I have a good reason to ride it!
As we walked down the path, the train whistle was blowing and Kekoa was looking all over the place, turning his head this way and that, wondering where all the noise was coming from. He really liked the train, sat on his daddy's lap and just took in all the sights. It is a short loop that goes around the beautiful park. It wasn't too hot today, so it was perfect.

Waving to the people in the park.

After the short train ride, we went in to show Kekoa the horses on the carousel. We weren't planning on taking him on it. He didn't like all the noises when he was a little baby, 3 months old, but he was very intrigued now! He was really excited, watching the horses go around and around. Of course, I had to take him on it! Scott was nice enough to stay on the side lines to snap pictures of us! We carefully chose our horse and got on. Kekoa immediately grabbed onto the pole as he looked around everywhere. I had him stand on the back of the horse for some photos and then he didn't really want to sit back down! The bell went off and the horse started moving up. Kekoa didn't know quite what to make of it, but didn't cry or anything. He kept looking around at all the murals and watching how the horses were moving up and down. I wish I could've taken a picture of how his little feet were gripping the side of the horse...so cute!

Wow, that is so cool!

Can I go on the carousel, please?

Kekoa would've liked it if he could've stood up for the whole ride on the carousel! I had a hard time getting him to sit back down on the saddle.

I love how Kekoa is holding on here!

Our little wild thing...

Kekoa has so much energy, he is non-stop action! It was so cute to find him and Scott taking a little breather and reading,"Where the Wild Things Are"...so appropriate! :) As soon as the book was done, Kekoa was onto the next thing...crawling off the couch.

Look mama...no feet!
Trying to crawl over daddy!
A little rest...

and up again!

All right folks, what's next? (Notice the scratch on the chin? Kekoa fell on his face getting out of the pool on Monday. :( He slipped and did a little face plant, there were a lot of tears. )

I LOVE these thighs. They are definitely my favorite Kekoa body part. They are so squishy and fit perfectly in the palm of my hand.
Whew, made it!

Kekoa has gotten really good at giving zrbt's (fart noises). It is always such a wonderful surprise when he starts to blow on my chest, or leg, or arm. You can't really hear him doing it very well in the video, but you can see how fired up he is!

Bella!

A typical morning with Kekoa looks something like this:
6:30am wake up and nurse. Then some playtime and snuggles in bed. Kekoa loves to crawl over and wake up Scott. I love watching him do this, with my one eye that is able to open so early in the morning.
We usually roll out of bed by 7:00, then go change the big diaper that weighs the same as a bowling ball!
7:00-7:30ish playtime and stories and songs (Kekoa will usually go #2, right after I've changed his diaper..figures!)
7:30ish attempt to feed Kekoa breakfast, but he is not much of a breakfast eater. If we are all up, we try and have breakfast together.
7:45 Go for a walk to find Bella the kitty!
Kekoa is so high energy in the mornings. It is amazing how much energy he has. To calm him down some before his first nap, we have been going on a walk every morning. It is still cool outside, the sun is shining, and the birds are chirping. We go on our search of not only Bella the cat, but squirrels (which Kekoa gets a big kick out of watching), and birds too. If we are really lucky, we see some some dogs along the way. The house on the corner is being remodeled, so we also go and investigate what new things they have done. The contractor knows us by now!

Home from our walk by 8:15.
Check diaper again, then nurse and go down for nap #1. Scott has been putting Kekoa to sleep, after he is finished nursing. Thank you Scott! This gives me some time to go for a run by myself, which I cherish!

The story about Bella...Bella is the sweetest kitty. I love her so much. We met Bella when we first moved here, 4 years ago. She lives up the street from us. I have been giving her cat treats on our walks, for the last 4 years, which makes her love us too. She is the only cat I know who absolutely loves to have her belly rubbed. She'll roll all around so you can rub her belly, like a dog!
Before Kekoa, when Scott and I would walk almost every evening after work, Bella would greet us with her meows. She totally recognizes Scott and I and follows us home on our walks, to get more treats. Scott even has a special way to call her, when she hears it, she comes running. There have been times when we didn't even see or call her, and we turn around and she has followed us home! She will sit on the stone fence outside our apartment complex and waits patiently for her treats! Now Kekoa is completely enthralled with her. She has come to recognize us once again, because of the stroller! Kekoa will peek his head out of the stroller as we pass her apartment, to see if she is out. It is really cute.

Entertainment during breakfast...

Nice to see you Bella!

One more time in the Moby...

Scott took these pics when Kekoa was having his period of sleep regression, a few weeks ago. Oh, the sweetness of my boy. Scott suggested putting him in the Moby wrap, since he had regressed. It worked, I sang him a couple of lullabies and he went right to sleep. He was so content being in the Moby, close to me. He hasn't slept in the Moby in ages, I can't even remember the last time. This was one of those mommy moments to cherish.
