Mini Santa Cruz vacation

Scott had the weekend off, which is always so nice. We had a family weekend getaway in Santa Cruz. It wasn't what either of us envisioned, but it was still so wonderful to spend time together. We had pictured fun in the sun, Scott surfing, me on the beach with Kekoa. Instead we were pounded by a huge storm. The wind was super strong and the waves were huge and awesome. It always reminds me of how powerful the ocean is during storms. I love watching it churning and breaking against the shore.
Kekoa was so excited to be on vacation! He was nothing but smiles when we entered our room with the ocean view. He did really well too. I thought for sure I was going to have start all over with sleep training him, but he fell asleep on the bed with no problem. We were able to eat at our favorite restaurants, get coffee from our favorite place, and just relax and do nothing.

Are we leaving yet?
I can't wait to get out there!

We finally arrive in Santa Cruz. The first thing we did was check out the waves at "the lane", a world famous surf spot. I loved watching Scott and Kekoa checking out the stormy seas. This weekend was so special for the two of them. They really bonded and couldn't get enough of each other. It was so wonderful. Kekoa is so lucky to have such an amazing daddy!

I absolutely love this picture. The cloudy skies made for great picture taking. Scott was feeling a little bit like he was at a photo shoot, but I did get some good pics.
Oooh, we are in the hotel room and I am loving it!
Ho hum, what's next?
Such a cutie...
I'm so excited!!

Having so much fun on the deck with daddy!
A beautiful view!

This smile is priceless. Can't you just hear the laughter?
Hand stands with daddy!
Flirting with mama...
A lazy Sunday morning, chillin' with daddy.
This is what I came back to after my jog out on West Cliff! So sweet!
All the racers finishing...
Yummy bottle...

Hmmm, what is going on today mama?
Definitely more milk!
And some fun in front of the mirror. This mirror brought us endless enjoyment!
This jacket is too puffy!!
Ready to go out in the rain! We are headed out for sushi...Pink Godzilla here we come!
These photos aren't exactly in order. Scott took these the day we were leaving, on Monday.

Now these pics were taken on Saturday again, when we first arrived. Kekoa was so excited to be facing forward in the baby carrier and really loved looking at himself in the mirror. Oh the entertainment of a mirror!Snug as a bug in a rug...or in Kekoa's case, the baby carrier! :) We walked down to the Boardwalk and then out onto the pier for some delicious clam chowder bread bowls, bloody Mary's, and fried zucchini sticks from our favorite restaurant, Riva's.
Check out the dark clouds!
Having fun with Sophie at Riva's.
Family photo on the pier. We didn't think we would need sunglasses!
Back to Sunday...getting ready to go out for sushi. Mom is so hungry she is eating my cheeks!

At the Pink Godzilla, challaxin in my high chair. I had the best time here and really enjoyed eating all my food too. Mama and daddy enjoyed their meal too. It was nice to take our time and savor the delicious food. The waitress was so nice and commented on what a good baby I am, I am so mellow!
Hmmm, maybe I want to try some sushi too.

My first bite of rice and it is sushi rice!
I loved it so much that the sushi chef gave me my own little patty of rice! Mama and daddy are determined to have me be a sushi lover too! :)
I want some more!
Monday morning and on our way back home...

A view of the Dream Inn from West Cliff Drive!
Bye Dream Inn...thanks for a lovely stay!

Fun in the yellow chair...

Excited to be on vacation...

Our beautiful baby sleeping away...

Swings are so fun!

Kekoa and I had a great afternoon today. He slept for an hour and a half, on the bed, by himself! Woo hoo! For the past few days, I have been taking out Kekoa's 3rd afternoon nap. He was fighting it so much and it was so short (only 30 minutes). This way we have a longer time in the afternoon to play, but it also means that Kekoa is back to his early bedtime. He is in bed by 6:00! It has been going well so far.
When he woke up we went over to say hello to his BFF Ava, who he is always delighted to see. After saying hello and having a snack, we headed outside for a bike ride. I love taking Kekoa on the bike. It is just so much fun. He looks around in wonder and talks to me.
We headed over to Bachman Park after biking around town. I love Bachman Park. It is really peaceful there. There is a little brook running next to it, which I'm sure Kekoa will be playing in very soon.
Kekoa has been in the swing before, but never has he had so much fun in it. He kept laughing and kicking his pudgy little legs. He didn't really have any reaction in the swing before. He would just sit there and look around. He was still looking around today, but definitely laughing and having a great time. It makes me smile just thinking about it!

Higher mama...

Oh this is so much fun!
I'm having the best time! (Kekoa kept making this face, isn't it adorable? It's like he can't get enough!)
No really mama, this is the most fun!
