Peek a Boo with my bib

Kekoa still loves to play peek a boo, with me, with Scott, by himself...it doesn't matter, he loves it. The other day I was feeding him and he decided to play with his bib. Of course when I pulled out
the camera he didn't want to keep playing. He had been playing for awhile and it was just adorable.

I can pull myself up!

We are so proud of Kekoa and he is so proud of himself too! He pulled himself up to standing for the first time today! It is so cute to watch him trying so hard to lift up his little body up. He was so happy when he finally reached the picture frame he wanted, with a family photo of all of us! :) We also had him pull himself up on the couch. He was determined to get the water bottle!

Trying so hard.
I'm up...a view from the back. Oh he is so cute.
I want that water bottle...

Getting closer...
Reach...
Almost there!
Oooh, I got it!
Yay for me!

Rejuvenation

Well, today was the day of the half marathon I was in training for. Unfortunately, I was unable to participate, even in the 10K. I hurt my back, almost 3 weeks ago, while running, and it has been a long, slow healing process. I couldn't even really walk for 2 1/2 weeks, let alone run. With the help of a chiropractor and practicing pilates daily, my back has improved tremendously. The chiropractor gave me the ok to start running, slowly, taking it easy.

Stormy seas...
We had a room reserved at the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz, right on the water, with a view of the finish line! I booked the room so long ago because of its vicinity to the start and finish line. So instead of canceling our reservation, yesterday we headed over to Santa Cruz, in stormy weather, to enjoy Scott's weekend off and spend some family time together.
Today the weather was even worse, gusty winds and rain pelting down. It is awesome to watch the ocean when it is stormy like this.

The view of the finish line from our room...
Instead of participating in the race, I went for my own little run/walk along beautiful West Cliff Drive. I braced myself for the cold wind and rain, but it really felt so great to be outside and moving. At first I was so sad since I was running amongst the half marathon racers. But as I ran and the endorphins started to be released, I felt this calm come over me. I came back to the hotel room totally rejuvenated and alive. I haven't felt that great in such a long time. Running is my therapy, keeps me sane, and I've missed it so much. It was so hard to not be able to do any physical activity for so long. I am not a happy person when I can't run! After that short run/walk outside, I felt like my normal self again. Whew!
Thank goodness I have such an amazing husband that is still so nice to me when I'm not running! :)

Bib protest!

Kekoa is on a bib protest! Yesterday he figured out how to take it off at breakfast by pulling really hard on it. By dinnertime, he was not having his bib...kept fussing until he could get it off. Needless to say, his clothes are now even filthier! Thank goodness for Oxiclean.

A lovely Tuesday

Yesterday was soooo much fun. I haven't been in that good of spirits in awhile. The weather was finally warm again, I had gotten a decent night sleep, and I was surrounded by great company. In addition to all of these great things, Kekoa took 2 naps without having to be put in the baby carrier. I've been working really hard on "sleep training" with him. No more carrier or bouncing in the evenings. I lay in bed with him and he puts himself to sleep. The first couple of nights were pretty difficult, a lot of screaming and kicking. The past couple of nights he has just made my heart melt. He hasn't really cried, just babbles, "dadadada", until he gets super tired and his eyes start to close. He always checks to make sure my eyes are closed too!

So, back to yesterday....My dad and Kaiwei came out to visit and Scott had the day off work. My dad said that Kaiwei had fallen asleep in the car on the way over. When they pulled up and my dad turned off the car, Kaiwei woke up and the first thing he did was point up to our apartment and say, "Keko"!
We sat outside, while Kekoa took his nap, enjoyed the sunshine and some cold Red Stripe beer, my fave. As we relaxed, Cassie and Ava joined us outside and so did our friend Tandem and her baby James. It was like a baby party! Kekoa woke up and joined in on the fun too. He was so content sitting in Papa Beezy's lap and watching the "big kids" (Ava and Kaiwei) running around the patio. Who knew our little patio could be so peaceful and entertaining? I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon.

Kaiwei had the best time exploring our little patio. Which is your favorite picture? I couldn't decide...was it this one?
this one?
or this one?
or is it this one?
Hi Auntie Cassie and Ava!
Kaiwei was so excited to see Scott!
Yay, Kekoa is awake! Kaiwei needs a smoochy.
Got one!
Thanks Kaiwei! :)
I love my daddy!

I love the expression on Kaiwei's face and the smile on my dad's. Kaiwei really wanted that beer bottle!

Kekoa wants it too!
Their first beers together! :) Papa Beezy can't stop laughing!
These two were cracking us up. They are sizing each other up here.
Kaiwei was so excited to share with Ava the Buddha he "found".
Wanting a piggy back ride so bad!
Our little safari man...
Loving to sniff these flowers. They smell so good!
Ava goes in for a sniff too.
A kiss for Ava from her mama.
Baby James. I haven't seen Tandem or James in so long, about a month! I can't believe how big James is now. Plus he is crawling all over the place.
Auntie Cassie is the best. She brought out bubbles to blow. Kaiwei was just having a ball chasing them. Here he is taking a turn at blowing some. He was more excited to put the bubble wand back in the container and pull it back out again.
What a great day!

Kaiwei is talking up a storm. He repeats all kinds of things, it is so cute to hear his little voice. He is very proud of himself too.

Oh my goodness Kaiwei is such a cutie pie. Check out how he loves to sniff the flowers. You can hear him sniffing. Adorable!
Look at him run...
