A thankful Thanksgiving

My first Thanksgiving! I can't believe how much food there is!
We have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! Scott and I are so thankful for our healthy, happy, little boy. We are so lucky to have such a good baby. He is really mellow (when he has had enough sleep) and is smiling and laughing more and more with each day.
I am thankful that I am able to stay home with Kekoa. I just love being a mom and cherish all the little moments with my son.
Scott and I are both very thankful that he found a great nursing job in the Bay Area. We are so lucky that we didn't have to move. Most of his classmates have had to move out of state or out of the area in order to find work. We love where we live and are so fortunate to have such wonderful next door neighbors that have become our good friends. We are also fortunate that we have family so close by.

Kekoa's first Thanksgiving at Papa Beezy's was really fun. I was even able to eat with everyone, while he played on the bed. We all stuffed our faces early in the day, at 2:00, which allowed us to eat all day long. Everyone was so full that we didn't even eat dessert!!
Kekoa's cousin, Meilani, LOVES him and is such a good helper. Kekoa loves watching Jordan and Kaiwei play. He can't wait to join them. Kaiwei was even trying to say his name!

Fabulous family weekend in San Francisco

Kekoa had his first taste of the big city this past weekend. Scott and I took our little baby to San Francisco for his first night in a fancy hotel. We were able to stay at the Fairmont for a steal! He loved San Francisco...just stared in wonder at all the new things he was experiencing. There were so many exciting and new sights, smells, and sounds for our super alert baby boy!

Saturday morning we drove up (Kekoa actually fell asleep in the car!) and spent the day at the Palace of Fine Arts. It was such a gorgeous, sunny day in the city. After walking around and being awestruck by the majestic architecture, we had a picnic. It was so relaxing to spend the afternoon, eating cheese, drinking wine, and people watching. We saw so many brides getting their pictures taken with the beautiful backdrop.

I love Kekoa's face in this one...this is what he did the entire time while we were walking around. He just couldn't stop looking up at the magnificent architecture! Maybe he'll love architecture like his mommy!
Our view while having our picnic. Scott took really wonderful pictures.

After Kekoa woke up from another nap, we excitedly drove to the Fairmont. When checking into our room, we were told we had an upgrade to the "signature room". Our room was on the 22nd floor (there are only 23 floors at the Fairmont). When I opened the door, I had to close it, take a breath, and warn Scott of the breathtaking view he was about to see. Our room was GORGEOUS!! The view through the floor to ceiling windows was unbelievable. We had the Golden Gate to our left, Alcatraz and Angel Island in front of us, Chinatown and North Beach right below us, and Coit Tower in our view. There was no fog to obstruct our view...the sky was and Bay were so blue. It was magnificent...I have never stayed in such an amazing room. Kekoa enjoyed looking out the window too! While nursing, I had a view of the Golden Gate Bridge!! Let me just say, "Wow!"

While Kekoa played, Scott and I enjoyed some more wine and cheese, as we sat back and soaked in the amazing view. We were able to watch the sky change different colors of pink and orange as the sun set. Kekoa was such a trooper and did such a good job being in a new place. He went to bed at his regular bedtime and even slept in later than usual!

The next day was raining. We thought we would be able to walk around anyways, and borrowed umbrellas from the hotel. The rain was a blessing because Scott and I were being WAY too ambitious. The Fairmont sits at the top of an extremely steep hill. We thought we would be able to walk all the way down the the Ferry building and go to the Farmer's Market there and get breakfast. When I say "all the way down", I mean a super steep hill that is many, many, many, blocks away down the super steep hill. We walked down one block, realized we were still getting soaked and that walking back with all of our stuff would be no fun, so we turned around. Good thing, because that one block hike back up was a doozy. Scott was pushing the stroller full of "stuff" and I had Kekoa in the Moby. We were both out of breath after trudging up the one steep block.

Scott with our Fairmont umbrella...so fancy!

We ended up returning the umbrellas and driving to get breakfast in a neighborhood by Golden Gate Park. We were also able to visit some friends. It all worked out and we had such a wonderful time. Kekoa was pooped out on Sunday and took a 4 hour nap (with some nursing in between)! Scott and I were equally exhausted and took naps when we got back home. We can't wait for our next adventure with our baby boy! He is quite the little traveler!

Waiting for our breakfast....I had the best french toast EVER!!
Such a tired baby....
