All the family!

Friday, August 28th was a huge day for us! Auntie Betty and Uncle Pat were having a huge celebration, in honor of all the kids and family coming together. Auntie Betty and Uncle Pat have known me since birth. Their daughter, Cindy, is one year older than me and we are very close. Their son, Joey, is my brother's age. We all grew up playing together.
Mingwei was there and Joleen brought along my niece, Meilani and nephew, Jordan. My dad and Jenny came with Kaiwei (my little brother). Joey and his wife and two cute boys, 3 years old and 4 months old. Cindy and her husband Dan have 3 children, 1 girl, Ava who is 10 and two boys, Kyle and Cole. Then of course is Scott and I with are 9 day old baby!
The big hit of the night was Kekoa! It took us forever to get out of my dad's house to get to the celebration, but we made it. I wouldn't have made it without the help of my dad, Jenny, and Scott. It really does take a village to raise a child! It felt good to wear "real"clothes and actually put on a little make-up. When we came into the house, everyone was sitting at in the foyer, waiting. The greeting reminded me of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". Everyone is yelling, the kids are screaming, "The baby, the baby". I was pushed out of the way for everyone to get a view of our little son! It was so much fun.
Meilani, our niece, hadn't met Kekoa yet. She was beside herself with excitment and joy, along with everyone else. The evening was filled with great food, laughter, and children everywhere. The weather was so hot, but cooled to the perfect temperature. Scott and I were both able to relax a bit, under the stars. I was even able to enjoy an ice cold beer. It was the best beer EVER. After not drinking for so long, the beer was quite refreshing on such a hot day. Besides, beer is supposed to help your milk come in more, right? :)
Cindy Joey are more like my sister and brother than just good friends. Now we all have children! It was really a special gathering! Thank you Auntie Betty and Uncle Pat for having us all over!

Thank goodness for the Moby Wrap!

After Kekoa eats, he often needs help to get to sleep. The Moby Wrap is the best for this! Scott and I would be getting no sleep without it. Just wrap Kekoa snug as a bug and he is out for the count!! What an amazing invention! I only wish I had one more as a back up.

Daddy and I love our naps. We're having a sleep over at Papa Beezy's (grandpa) and Auntie Jenny's house!

Scott and I have never taken so many pictures in our lives! Ever day the cameras are clicking. It is so much fun to take pictures and little videos of our little man! He is the most adorable baby. Videos will be posted soon!

Things to make a new mom's life easier

I'm a yoga baby! I love my legs in lotus position and when daddy chants "ohm" to get me to settle down.

My back and shoulders were killing me from nursing. Scott made his first trip out of the house to Day One in Palo Alto. I haven't been, but Scott said it is mommy store heaven. He purchased the following items there, that have changed my life this week, making it 100% better:

Things that have made my life 100% better this week:
1. My Brestfriend Nursing Pillow (a dream come true nursing pillow, with back support.)
2. Nursing Stool ( a little stool for my feet that has an incline, helps with my posture as well)
3. Pumping Bra (I am pumping and nursing. While pumping I was unable to use my hands, AT ALL for up to 20 minutes at a time!! No phone calls, drinking water, writing anything down, nothing. This bra allows me to be hands free while pumping, so I can get some things done, like posting on the blog! :)

Little tricks I am learning:
1. Keep a yoga strap in the pumping back pack. I can do shoulder stretches while pumping
to alleviate some of the tension in my upper body.
2. Post-it notes must have been invented by a new mom. They are strategically placed all
around. Now I don't need to think so hard to remember everything I need before I
start nursing Kekoa or pumping.
3. Drinking straws. Since I'm so thirsty and often Scott has to bring water to my lips, drinking out of straws is so much easier!
4. Yoga is a new mom's best friend. Stretching and taking some relaxing, cleansing breaths really helps.
5. Supportive family and friends are priceless. They are the ones that rush to your side. You don't even have to ask and they are there to cook, run errands, and even clean your bathroom!

Most importantly, don't be afraid to ask for help!
